CumbriaVAG 2012

In typical Driveway fashion, I’m late on writing this. Real life seems to be getting the way all the time…

Anyway, I was supposed to be going to the MK2 Owners Club annual gathering with Jim, but 10 minutes before we we’re going to leave we decided to see what CumVag had to offer.

As soon as we got there this dope MK2 caught my eye. The re-trim and engine were the best bits, 100% car of the show for me. Some inspiration for our Sam!

Finally got to meet Mr. Shaun Dunleavey, he’s friends with Butler and Gok so I’ve heard about his MK3 VR6 from them pair and it definitely lives up to its reputation. Can’t wait to see some of the changes Shaun has in store for it! Nice to finally meet you mate!

Really liked this Jetta, not seen many modified MK5 Jetta’s about so this was a refreshing change from the usual cars that do the rounds at the shows.

V5 in a MK3, looking like its just rolled out the factory.

Really feelin’ these Merc wheels on the Leon.

Again, nice to see some daily cars, these MK1′s really caught my eye.

Overall a good day out, with some cars that get used and abused every day, not just show cars… Which is what its all about for me!
Anyway, big up Matt Prescott (nice to finally meet you dude), Cam, Howson and anyone else Jim introduced me to. Sorry I’ve forgotten your names! And sorry for the shit photos, I’m going to blame the camera for that.

Peace!

UD2012 in a nutshell

So, in typical fashion… late as hell with the write up, the blogs been quiet as we’ve all grown up, got our shit together and started real jobs. Never the less, went UD… was still wrecked from the night before and i only took a 35mm camera. Heres what i saw when we arrived, someone had smashed lukes back window out of his cab when they were fuelled up, not a great start.

Saw Max’s Mk3 next, unfortunately he’d broken his rear bags at the time, but since these photos the cars had major changes, votex kit, filthy buckets and more. Still looked spot on…

Paid in, had a wander round… saw Scotts polo, silly low… didn’t get a chance to speak tho!

one of my favourite cars from the day was this Skoda, wearing 1552 Tarmacs, like a fitted taxi.

Bumped into James, who had a call the morning of the show to say he could have a spot inside. His Mk3 looked sick on the Audis.

Another impressive part this year was the Golf Rallye display section, i was blown away by the levels of preparation on these cars. The light hall corridor was the perfect spot for them.

On leaving, saw this familiar lupo.

And that was that, packed up our shit and set sail for the pub… after petrol and air.

See you next year.

Sam Colliers Mk2 16v

It was a funny evening, dope photographer and all round top chap Eric Tearle had come to visit, and sam came and met us. We shared a camera, handheld in the dark and this is what we came up with;

This is Sam Collier’s 1990 Mk2 Golf gti. Orginally starting out as an 8v, he’s recently fitted a 55,000 mile 16v ABF from an Ibiza Cupra in the front of it, and proceeded to give it complete death until a day after i’d seen him, he blew the gearbox into a million pieces. Nice one mate!

Jokes aside, this is the ultimate OEM+ machine, rocking 16 x 8 and 16 x 8.25 BBS RS in Porsche fitment which Sam managed to pick up for about a fiver being an ebay god. Using FK Coilovers, 15mm adapters all round, and brand new NOS G60 arches up front, i’d say it sits pretty well too!

We even let him park with us at HPLDs…

We love Sam.
